In the 1901 Census taken 31 March, the family are at 61 Lord Street Birkenhead. Robert is 45 and a General Labourer. Martha Younger is 44, James David is 19 and an Apprentice Carpenter, Georgina is 18 and a Dressmaker, George is 16 and an Apprentice Carpenter. Flora 13 and David 6 are at school, and Margaret is 3.

On 14 February 1905 James David Younger, 23, married Emily Medcalf, daughter of Townley Medcalf, at St Michael and All Angels, Claughton-cum-Grande, Cheshire.

On 27 July 1905 Florence Younger was born. She was baptised on 5 October 1905 at St Michael and All Angels, Claughton-cum-Grande, Cheshire, parents James David and Emily Younger.

In Q3 1907 Emily May Younger was born to James David and Emily Younger, no baptism record found as yet. She appears in the 1911 Census as May, at 3 years of age.

In the 1911 Census they are still at 61 Lord Street James David is a Shipwright aged 29, Emily is 28, Flora (Florence) is 5 and (Emily) May is 3. Ethel Metcalf, Emily’s sister aged 21, is living with them.

Martha Ethel Younger’s birth was registered in 1915 Q1 in Birkenhead, and her death, aged 4 days, also in 1915 Q1. There was no time for a baptism to take place. She was buried on 27 January 1915 in a family grave with her Great-Grandparents George James and Amelia Waller. Her name is recorded incorrectly in the Grave Register as Margaret Ethel Younger, although it was corrected on the Burial record. The family address was 45, Leominster Road, Liscard.

On 16 May 1925 Emily, James David’s wife, died aged 42. Probate granted to James David on 6 October 1925.

In Q4 1925 the marriage of James David Younger and Beatrice E Higginson in Liverpool was registered.

On 3 November 1930, Florence Younger (who would have been 25), father James David Younger, married Ronald Arthur Jones, 27, father Owen Jones, at St Mark, Birkenhead.

In the 1939 register, James David, born 20 October 1881, a Foreman Shipwright and his wife Beatrice E. Younger, born 2 June 1887, were living at 18, Bletchley Avenue, Wallasey.

In the 1939 register, Florence Jones born 27 July 1905 is listed as married, but is living at 20, St Nicholas’ Road, Wallasey with an Ernest A. Webster, his wife and son. There is 1 closed record. Perhaps Ronald had joined up, or he is the closed record?

James David Younger’s death aged 78 in Birkenhead was registered in Q4 1960.

In Q2 1972 the death of a Beatrice Ellen Younger in Birkenhead was registered, date of birth 2 June 1887.

In Q1 1996 the death of Florence Jones in Birkenhead was registered, date of birth 27 July 1905.
