George Christopher Younger (1884-1958)

On 12 October 1884 George Christopher Younger was born. He was baptised on 7 May 1885 at Birkenhead Holy Trinity. Father’s occupation Labourer, abode 51 Wood Street.

In the 1891 Census the family are living at 21 Wood Street. Robert is a General Labourer aged 33, Martha is 32, James David is 9, Georgina is 8, George (George Christopher) is 6 and Flora is 3.

In the 1901 Census taken 31 March, they are living at 61 Lord Street Birkenhead. Robert is 45 and a General Labourer. Martha Younger is 44, James David is 19 and an Apprentice Carpenter, Georgina is 18 and a Dressmaker, George is 16 and an Apprentice Carpenter. Flora 13 and David 6 are at school, and Margaret is 3.

On 28 April 1909 George Christopher Younger married Harriet Hitchmough.

Flora Clara Younger was born on 20 December 1909, and was baptised on 23 January 1910 at St. Catherine, Tranmere, parents George Christopher and Harriet.

In the 1911 census George, 26 and a shipwright and Harriet, 27, are living at 14 Whitfield Street Tranmere with daughter Flora Clara aged 1.

George Kenneth Younger was born on 29 May 1911, and was baptised on 5 July 1911 at St. Catherine, Tranmere, parents George Christopher and Harriet.

George, occupation Boatbuilder, enlisted with the R.A.F. on 9 April 1918. His service record shows that on 9 July 1918 he was attached to the R.A.F. Seaplane Station at Houton Bay near Scapa Flow. It also has the date he married Harriet, and the dates his children were born.

In Q4 1940 the marriage of George K. Younger and Muriel C. Eastwood in Wallasey was registered.

The death of George C. Younger aged 73 was registered in Q2 1958 in Wallasey.

The death of Harriet Younger aged 75 was registered in Q2 1959 in Birkenhead.
