In Q3 1868 Fidelia Waller (1868-1889) was born in Birkenhead and baptised on 20 December. Father’s occupation Labourer, address 124 Wood Street Birkenhead.
On 14 November 1886, Fidelia Waller married Joseph Thomas Evans, a baker, of 33 Beckwith Street at the Church of the Holy Trinity in Price Street. His age was given as full, i.e. over 21, his father was William Evans (deceased), Labourer. Fidelia was 19 and living at 19 Cottage Street. Her father George James Waller, Labourer. Witnesses to the marriage were a Mary Ann Kelly and Christopher George Waller, her older brother.
On 11 October 1888, registered In Q4 1888, Fidelia gave birth to Mary Ann Amelia Evans. She was baptised on 11 November 1888 at Birkenhead St. Mary, parents’ names recorded as Thomas and Fidelia Evans.
On 21 December 1889 Fidelia died aged 21. The death certificate recorded that death took place at 67 Cathcart Street. Christopher George Waller of 11 Arrow Place, her brother, reported the death on 23 December and was present at the end. Husband recorded as Thomas Evans, now a Painter’s Labourer. The cause of death was Phthisis Pulmonalis, otherwise known as consumption or tuberculosis.
She was buried on 24 December at Birkenhead (Flaybrick) Cemetery in Section 1 Grave 104.
In the 1891 census, Mary Ann Amelia is living with her grandparents George James and Amelia Waller. She is listed as Amelia, with an illegible surname, granddaughter, aged 2.
In the 1901 census, Joseph T. Evans, 40, a Labourer (Gas Works) and Mary A (Ann Amelia) Evans aged 13 are staying with his sister Ann Wilson and her husband William in Hoylake.
In 1911 a Mary A. Evans is a Kitchen Maid at the Hop Pole Hotel in Chester, possibly her.
On 28 January 1912 Mary Annie Amelia Evans married Herbert Alexander Ruxton at St. Leonard’s Church Bootle. Herbert was a Fruiterer aged 28, living at 19 Moore Street, father Francis William Ruxton, Engineer. Mary Annie was 24, living at 21 Moore Street, father Thomas Evans, Gas Worker.
Herbert Alexander Ruxton died aged 31 in January 1915, and was buried at Walton Park Cemetery Liverpool on 27 January 1915.
On 24 January 1920, Mary A.A. Ruxton married James Henry Reed, registered in the Wirral.
On 28 April 1926 Harold Geoffrey Reed was born. His birth was registered in Liverpool 1926 Q2, mother’s maiden name Evans. He was baptised on 23 May 1926 at Garston, Lancashire, parents James Henry and Amelia Reed.
In 1928 Q2 the birth of Wilfred Reed was registered in Liverpool, mother’s maiden name Evans. He was baptised, as Wilford Reed, on 27 May 1928 at Garston, Lancashire, parents James Henry and Mary Ann Amelia Reed.
In the 1939 register James H. gives his date of birth as 11 July 1880, occupation Boot Maker, with A.R.P. (Air Raid Warden) written beside it. Mary A.A. was born 11 October 1888. There is 1 closed record (not referred to in the transcript) who could be either Harold Geoffrey or Wilford / Wilfred. WIlfred might have died before then?
James Henry Reed died in 1956.
Harold Geoffrey Reed died in September 1975 aged 49. He was buried at Allerton Cemetery Liverpool on 15 September 1975.
Mary Ann Amelia Reed’s death aged 87 was registered in 1975 Q3. According to the Probate record her abode was 89 St. Mary’s Road Garston Liverpool 19, and she died on 23 December, and this is confirmed by the burial record. She too was buried in Allerton Cemetery, on 29 December 1975.
No marriage or death register entries found for Wilfred or Wilford. He could possibly still be alive but I suspect he died prior to 1939.
