Fidelia Waller was born on 28 or 29 April 1892, the twin of Georgina (1892-1974). They were both baptised on 16 May 1892 at Birkenhead St. Peter and the baptism records show their date of birth was 28 April. However, on the 1939 register they both say 29 April. Father’s occupation Labourer, abode 52 Cathcart Street.
In 1911 she was a Dry Soap Packer at a Soap Maker, this would be at Lever’s.
On 2 November 1913 she married Edward Thomas Edwards. The marriage was solemnized at St. Nicholas Church Liverpool. From the Marriage Certificate both were living at White Street, she was 21 and he was 24. His father was Edward Edwards, a Railway Guard, and he was a Labourer.
Their first child Lilian Edwards was born on 21 March 1914.
Their second child Jennie was born on 20 September 1916.
Edward joined the Army, but no service record was found, nor could I identify a Medal Index Card. An Army form has survived on its own. It is undated, but clearly was completed after 31 August 1917. It shows that at the time of joining he was 29 years old and 5 feet 4 inches. His next of kin is his wife Fidelia Edwards of 26 Collingwood Street Birkenhead. The date of their marriage is given, as are the dates of birth of Lilian (21 March 1914) and Jennie (20 September 1916). The form records his Army service as “Home 26 June 1917 to 31 August 1917.”
Elsie May Edwards was born in 1930. She was christened on 19 March at Birkenhead St. John, father’s name Edward Thomas Edwards, mother’s Fidelia.
In Q1 1940, Lilian Edwards married Alfred Dill. In the 1939 register Alfred was a Horse Van Driver.
In Q1 1943 Jennie Edwards married Thomas Richard Morris.
On 23 October 1943, Thomas was killed while serving as a Petty Officer Stoker in the Royal Navy on H.M.S. Charybdis, which was sunk by a German E-boat near Guernsey.
In Q2 1944, Jennie Morris gave birth to a daughter, Davina D. Morris.
In Q3 1945 Lilian Dill died aged 31.
In Q2 1946 Alfred Dill married Elsie Kell.
In 1955 Elsie May Edwards married Stephen Hawksworth. They had a son, Stephen E. Hawksworth, in 1957.
In Q2 1958 Jennie Morris died aged 42. I suspect Davina aged 14 might then have gone to live with her grandparents, Edward and Fidelia Edwards.
In Q1 1971 Fidelia Edwards died in Birkenhead aged 78. Her birth date was given as 2 May 1892.
In Q1 1980 the death of Alfred Dill aged 68 was registered. His birth date was 20 November 1911.
