Martha Waller (1881-1958) was born on 18 April 1881 and baptised at Birkenhead Holy Trinity on 28 October 1883. Father’s occupation was Labourer, and their address was 3 Shaw’s Place, Somerville Street Birkenhead.

In 1901 she was aged 22 and a Laundress.

On 28 September 1905 aged 21 she married James Weedon aged 23, both of 9 St. Mary’s Gate Birkenhead. James was born in Salford and was a butcher, and his father James AKA Jim was a drover, both working at the Lairages at Birkenhead docks. The witnesses were her sister Jane Colwell and her husband Frederick Samuel Colwell.

On 5 June 1906 (date from death register)James Weedon was born in Birkenhead. He was baptised on 20 June 1906 at Birkenhead St. Peter.

On 12 Jan 1909 Annie Amelia Weedon was born.

On 15 June 1910 Jane Weedon was born in Birkenhead. She was baptised on 10 August 1910 but the record does not give the location. The family abode is 6 Pym Street. She appears in the 1911 Census taken on 2 April where she is 10 months old and her birth year is wrongly estimated to be 1911.

In the 1911 Census taken on 2 April, James is listed as being a butcher at the Lairages and aged 27, Martha is 28. Children James (4) , Annie Amelia (2) and Jane is 10 months old, therefore born June or July 1910. They are living at 6 Pym Street Birkenhead, which no longer exists.

James filled out the form and listed another James Weedon, aged 67, who had been married for 30 years, had had 8 chldren, two of whom were still living and six had died. This has been crossed out. Was this his father, or another relative?

On 29 March 1912 Christopher Jeremiah Weedon was born in Birkenhead. The baptism transcription has no details of the baptism but confirms his date of birth as above, also the residence 6 Pym Street appears in the search result but not the transcription.

In Q2 1916 Georgina May Weedon was born. She sadly died in Q2 1918 aged 23 months, and was buried on 9 April 1918 with her grandfather John James and cousin William James Eason at Birkenhead (now Flaybrick Hill) Cemetery.

In Q3 1919 Edward Weedon was born.

On 7 December 1929 a James Weedon, 21, married a Sarah May Bartley at Rock Ferry. James would have been 23, so this might not be him.

On 28 September 1931 Jane Weedon married James Herbert Garroch, 21, father’s name also James Herbert Garroch, at Birkenhead Holy Trinity.

In Q1 1942 Edward Weedon married Ann McAleny.

In Q2 1942 a Christopher J. Weedon married a Dorothy Howard.

In Q1 1949 James Weedon, Martha’s husband, died in Birkenhead aged 65.

In Q4 1958 Martha Weedon died aged 76.

In Q4 1981 James Weedon’s death was registered in Birkenhead. His date of birth was recorded as 5 June 1906.

In Q2 1988 the death of Christopher Jeremiah Weedon was registered in Birkenhead. His date of birth was confirmed as 29 March 1912.

In Q4 1989 Sarah May Weedon’s death was registered in Birkenhead. Her date of birth was recorded as 6 May 1906.

In Q1 1992 the death of James Herbert Garroch was registered in Birkenhead. His birth date was recorded as 14 February 1910 so he was 82.

In Q1 1993 the death of Jane Garroch was registered in Birkenhead. Her birth date was recorded as 15 June 1910 so she was 82.

In Q2 1995 the death of Edward Weedon was registered in Birkenhead, date of birth recorded as 12 July 1919.
